Ellsworth Kelly
Ellsworth Kelly created the stage curtain and the five monochrome panels exhibited in the auditorium of Frank Gehry’s Fondation Louis Vuitton.
Pursuing his reflection on colour, form, lines and space, the artist, who always sought to put painting into dialogue with architecture, created a work that vibrates in space like musical notes.
This initial volume of the Cahiers de la Fondation Louis Vuitton is dedicated to this installation, the only one of its kind in Europe, as well as a series of paintings and prints from the Fondation collection.
An interview with Robert Storr, an essay by Ann Hindry and a range of detailed images emphasise the significance of this in situ installation in the work of this major artist of the modern and contemporary scene.
